[00:00.52]The Birthday Gift|[00:03.14] It is going to be my father's birthday.|[00:05.62] What can I give him?|[00:07.18] I don't have much money.|[00:08.80] I have looked all through the stores,|[00:10.66] and I have not found anything|[00:12.65] that I think he would like, or that I can afford.|[00:15.89] I have thought very hard about what to buy for him.|[00:19.25] I thought that he might like some candy,|[00:22.54] but my father really doesn't eat many sweets.|[00:25.41] I thought that he might like a new shirt,|[00:27.83] but he has lots of clothes.|[00:30.07] I can't afford a new car or computer for him.|[00:33.56] I was watching him on the weekend.|[00:35.79] He cut the grass, washed the car, took out the garbage,|[00:39.34] weeded the garden and watered the plants.|[00:42.27] I got an idea.|[00:43.70] I went to my room and took out some paper.|[00:47.30] I cut out pieces of paper, and I wrote on them.|[00:50.10] I wrote on one piece of paper|[00:51.97] that I would wash the car every weekend for the summer.|[00:55.70] I wrote on another piece that I would take out the garbage|[00:59.18] every week for the summer.|[01:01.18] I also wrote that I would cut the grass, weed the garden|[01:05.03] and water the plants every week for the summer.|[01:08.33] I made a birthday card for my dad,|[01:11.47] and I put the pieces of paper inside it.|[01:13.93] I went downstairs and gave my gift to my dad.|[01:17.35] My dad thought that the gift was very thoughtful.|[01:20.71] He said that it was a gift from the heart.|[01:23.20] I did all those things for my dad all summer.|[01:26.81] He said that he had a lot of free time|[01:29.36] because I helped him so much.|[01:31.35] My dad and I are good friends.|[01:33.46] I don't mind doing things for him|[01:35.64] because I know that he is always there to help me out.|[01:38.94] A good gift doesn't have to be something that costs a lot.|[01:43.17] My dad says that the best gifts are the ones|[01:46.46] that show how much you care for the other person.|[01:49.70] I'm glad my dad liked his gift.
